The Mercato Centrale in the piazza of this name (open 7am, to 2pm Mon-Fri, to 5pm Sat) is under a glass and iron shelter dating back to the 19th century. It is still a hive of activity and has the fabulous smell of the wonderful fresh produce sold here.
Some cooking courses include visits to this market. Among them is Judy Francini’s courses (www.divinacucina.com). These courses are of  different lengths and for different levels, with hands-on experience and tasting.
