Viareggio whose most splendid days were in the 20s and 30s, clear from the art nouveau style façades lined up one after the other on the seaside. Viareggio is a magnet for visitors with its sun-drenched beaches and its carnival called Mardi Gras Carnevale. Piazza Shelley was named after the poet who drowned here.
