Osteria del Teatro (tel. 0575 63 05 56; www.osteria-del-teatro.it;  Via Maffei 2; closed 7th-27th Nov and Wed) prepares regional cuisine.  This trattoria´s dining rooms are lovely warm rooms with grand fireplaces.

To enjoy the efficient service and home-made cuisine prepared at La Grotta (tel.  0575 63 02 71; Piazzetta Baldelli 3, closed 7 Jan-13 Feb, 1st-7th Jul and Tue) reservations are highly recommended. Its quality and strategic position have made it a favourite.

Hostaria la Bucaccia (tel, 0575 60 60 39; www.labucaccia; Via Ghigellina 17, closed 15th -30th Jan) is located inside a 14th century palazzo on a Roman road whose paving forms part of the dining rooms. This ancient touch and its home made, good value cuisine make for a special meal.

Fashionable Tuscher Bar (tel. 0575 6 20 53; Via Nazionale 43) serves coffees, cocktails and light lunches. 

Head for Caffè degli Artisti (tel. 0575 60 12 37; Via Nazionale 18) to savour some traditional Italian fare. 

Route 66 (tel. 0575 6 27 27) is close to Piazza Garibaldi and serves drinks in an chic atmosphere with modern music
